Resources are important but only if you are connected to them

Let me share three short but meaningful stories that led to the creation of this part of Rooted Workshops.

1. The Gap I Witnessed in the Mental Health Field

In my 10 years working in the mental health field, I consistently saw something that troubled me: families in need of resources, and resources in need of families—yet no clear path connecting the two. There was a gap. I created The Root System to help bridge that gap.

If you’re a new mom searching for answers…
If you’re someone experiencing suicidal thoughts and unsure of your options…
If you’re grieving the loss of a loved one and feel completely alone…

I want you to have a place to turn—a place that links you to real, reliable, and supportive help. You don’t have to figure it out alone.

2. Surviving and Navigating Domestic Violence

In 2021, I was involved in a domestic violence assault. I had no idea what to do next. I was emotionally and mentally devastated. The man who assaulted me had a history of harming other women—including one who had endured this kind of violence far too many times.

Together, we pressed charges and advocated for ourselves as best we could. I found a trauma-informed counselor who specialized in PTSD. Eventually, he was sentenced to jail. When his parole hearing came, I learned I could write a letter. I had no idea that was even an option. Upon his release, I was able to receive location updates to protect myself and stay informed.

That experience taught me how crucial access to information is—and how few survivors know what their options truly are.

3. A Long Journey Toward Justice

From ages 5 to 10, I was sexually abused by my grandfather. From 13 to 26, I quietly carried the question: How can I make sure this man never hurts another child? At age 27, I made one phone call that led to an open case—and eventually, his arrest.

It took over 20 years to find a sense of justice.

I share these stories with you not for sympathy, but to show you that The Root System has a vital place in our world. It’s a place for quick connection, clear answers, and courageous change.

The Root System exists so you can advocate for yourself and others. It exists because we deserve resources that are rooted in truth, compassion, and action.

You deserve to feel informed, supported, and powerful. You deserve to know what your next step can be.
